DVD drive cannot read cd's

Hi i was wwondering if anyone could help me with a
problem im having. My dvd drive doesnt seem to read cd's
anymore. for example i put in a game cd and i cant
explore it it just gives me the message insert cd. yet i
put the same disk in my rewritable and it reads it fine.
If anyone has any suggestions it would be much apreeciated
