I have a PCI device that exposes a standard 16550 UART
serial port. It does not require any special driver since
the normal serial driver (serial.sys) works fine with it -
as it does in win2k. However in winxp and win2k3 the
device manager does not install the driver over the
device, unless I manualy tweak the inf file (msports.inf)
with the specific PCI configuration details.
Is there a general solution for this situation?
Thanks, Omer
