Last night I had logged onto my computer (WindowsXP)- but
as soon as I tried to connect to my ISP- I recv'd error
message and computer shut down . The message mentioned the
motherboard and shuting down. I cannot bring my computer
up to Windows XP- I have power to the modem, monitor- but
cannot log-in. Do you think this is virus related or
something else? ( I tried my connections -they are tight
and tried plugging in computer to the wall instead of the
surge protector and still no response.)HELP!!!!

Sounds more like hardware to me than the virus. I would run some
diagnostics on that machine first and see if you might not just have a
motherboard issue. Do you happen to know what the message for the
motherboard was? How far does the machine get when you try to boot? Does
it load in safe mode?
