cd rom driver

xp installs my cd rom but not the driver
i did not get a disk with my reader
what can i do
please help

Not sure I understand Terry, the CDROM is installed but not functioning? Or
is this a CDR that isnt shown as a burner? Let me know and I will try to
help.

[Terry]

in device manager its showing as there but in properties
it says driver not available
its just a 56x reader
