Windows XP loads fine. but my programs in the startup
file take 5-6 mins, if they load at all. Any ideas?

Use the msconfig utility to troubleshoot this problem. Go to start/Run,
type: msconfig and press OK. Click the start Up tab. Remove the check
mark from all of the programs there except one. Click OK and reboot. If the
slowdown has been resolved, start adding the programs back, one at a time
with a reboot for each program added until the problem reappears.

U likely have lots unnecessary apps loading- I have 4 & I
get wallpaper in ~50sec.Use a $0 StartUp manager or
run C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\msconfig.exe >>
STARTUP TAB to see what's running. Look-up each 1 at:

http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages/startup_full.htm

To disable, look for
1- Rt-clk option in TRAY
2- Entry in STARTUP folder
3- Uncheck entry in msconfig

Be sure to create a RESTORE pt b4 in case u cant boot. Doing
2-3 at a time will min wasted effort.
