I am trying to find all the network cards installed on my
machine in an XP. I think u can find it in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows
NT\\CurrentVersion\\NetworkCards,
But my machine is on key 9 and on another machine, it is
on key 2, what is this number stands for?

This location is obsolete. In win2k and XP, netcards are registered under
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E 972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
All subkey names are randomly generated.

Stay out of the registry unless you have "The Knowledge" or you like to
flirt with danger.
