in My Computer??

Thanks,

James,

Open Registry Editor and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Doc=
FolderPaths

Backup the registry first, by exporting the appropriate keys you modify.

Rename the DocFolderPaths to Old_DocFolderPaths. This removes the =
shortcuts to user's documents in the My Computer "Files Stored on This =
Computer" section. To remove the Shared Documents from the list, try =
this:

There is a setting in TweakUI for XP that enables/disables displaying
"Files stored on this computer." Unchecking the box for this setting
removes the display of the folders you have listed.

TweakUI is one of the Power toys for XP.

TweakUI v2.00 for Windows XP:.

TweakUI v2.10 for Windows XP SP1:

This is better. Do you see any other changes other than these keys, =
Sharon?

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer\NoShared=
Documents
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Exp lorer\StartPage\Program=
sCache

Or, how does it work actually (hiding the "files stored" section)?

Looks like you've already played with this while I was off cleaning out my
desk drawers. :)

Before I networked my tablet to the desktop, I used the TweakUI setting.
Didn't like all that extra info in Explorer/My Computer. With the network,
I've reversed the setting again.

Creating a new DWORD worked. Thanks. But I thought
there was a setting in xp somewhere that hides the folders,
I must have been mistaken.

Thanks again,
James
