Over the last 2 weeks or so I have been prompted to
download update: "811493: Security Update (Windows XP)"

It indicates that upon completion it was successful,
however each day since day one I am being prompted again
and again. I have even disablbed my virus protection and
tried to update, but that hasn't worked either.

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
James

Hi James,

Control Panel/System/Automatic Updates tab, disable this feature, =
reboot, then reenable it.

Thanks for your reply Rick. I disabled the Auto update,
performed the update manually and I still ran into the
same problem- the update just won't "take hold". Can you
run through your steps again and just let me know when I
am supposed to perform the update, etc.

Thanks, this just won't go away,
James

Hi James,

Ok, so uninstall that hotfix first, then reinstall it. You should find =
it listed in Add & Remove in the Control Panel. Sorta screwy, but should =
help.
