wierd cdr problem with windows xp

I have a bit of a wierd problem. I have xp home on an emachines t1100
and the cdr has started to do wierd things. It will not see burned
cds if I have written to a cd since a restart. And Then it even has
trouble reading commercial disk. Any ideas??
