I am trying to figure out how to get my memory stick to work on USB port on
front of my computer.I have one USB in back [1.1?] and one in front [1.1?]
I am running XP Pro with Service Pack 1[534 MHz, 192 MB of RAM If that
matters].
I was told with XP Pro I would automatically have HI-SPEED USB but I don't.
I have 5 USB Controllers listed:
Generic USB Hub
Intel(s) 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
USB Composite Device
USB Mass Storage Device
USB Root Hub
I need the USB Hub because my mouse & keyboard ports do not work.
Any help on how to get Hi Speed free?
Thanks Bruce Lawrence

No.
USB 2.0 requires both software and hardware. If you have an open PCI slot
you can purchase and install a multi-port USB 2.0 card.
However, are you sure that the lack of a USB 2.0 port is your problem? When
you attach the memory stick reader it should be also compatible with USB 1.1
{just slower}. Also, are you sure that your memory stick reader is not USB
1.1? If it is USB 2.0 you should get a message somewhat like a high speed
device is connected to a low speed port.
I have a Sony with a built in memory stick reader. In Device Manager the
memory stick controller has its own entry.
Suggest you check to determine if you need to install a device driver for
your memory stick reader.

Hi Bruce
You will only have USB 2 if you have the hardware for it. In other words,
you will need to have USB 2 components installed (either via a PCI USB 2
card or direct from motherboard if it supports it) for USB2 (high speed) to
work. XP Pro SP1 supports USB 2. If it detects it you should see, among
your USB root hubs etc, a USB *enhanced* device listed.
Good luck.
