Hi,
Hope someone can help,I would like to remove my sound
card and use the onboard one, also I would like to remove
my modem card as I have ethernet onboard,if I remove my
sound card where do I plug the cables (2)in on my
motherboard,1 for my cdrw and 1 for my dvd,can I do this
as I don,t really use my sound card properly and I would
like the room to keep my system cooler, would this be
classed as hardware alterations in windows xp for
activation?,
any help would be grateful,
thanks,
Bill.

First go into Device Manager and remove the sound card and modem. Shut down
and remove the sound and modem cards. Start and go into BIOS and enable the
on board sound. When Windows starts it should find and install the on board
sound. In XP you don't need the audio cable. Open Control Panel, click on
Sounds and Audio devices, click Hardware Tab, highlight your CD drives,
click the Properties Tab, and see that the box "Enable Digital Audio...." is
checked.
