View Full Version : Need help with ICF in XP

I am trying to enable the ICF in XP. I followed the help
file routines and tried the network wizard and can't tell
if its enabled. If I try to enable the ICF manually I
right click on the icon for my ISP and try to open the
properties tab but nothing happens. This is the same for
MSN or AOL. It seems like this option is disabled. This
is my home PC and is the only PC connected to the
internet.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks Chris

Greetings --

Don't know about MSN, but AOL (an on-line content provider that
ignores international Internetworking standards in favor of its own
proprietary products), has deliberately made its connection software
incompatible with both WinXP's built-in firewall and WinXP's Internet
Connection Sharing feature. AOL's proprietary connection applet is
deliberately designed to preclude your setting/adjusting any of its
properties, to include enabling/disabling WinXP's ICF and ICS.

If you need or want to use the ICS, you'll need to switch to a
true Internet Service Provider; one that doesn't deliberately attempt
to limit you to their own product(s).
