Sony Vaio model PCVRX640

My friend while surfing clicked the stadby or hibernate
tab ( his words) and the computer completely shut down.
Now I cannot get the computer to resume. It's been 3 days
with the unit unplugged from wall outlet. Yet various
power supply wires show voltages that range from up to 5
volts. Help!

Plug it in. Hold down the power button for 15 seconds. Release it.
Now, will it boot with the power button as usual?
