DVD drive installation problem

my bios sees the DVD drive but win xp pro won't recognize it, any ideas.

I have primary ide my hard drive, comes up ok
on secondary I have this DVD drive setup as master and
another cd as a slave


windows xp only sees the slave drive

help !!!

Some combinations can be temperamental. Try swapping master/slave position.
Make sure you clear NVRAM in BIOS. It would help if you gave some details
like what brand etc.
