I have just installed XP home/SP1 on a friends computer.
After XP is completely booted it detects new hardware
and installs driver for the hardware and asks for restart.
After restart there is no floppy. In the device manager
under floppy controllers there are 2 identical devices
using the same resources with an ! and no floppy drives.
I uninstall 1 device then the floppy drive installs and
floppy works fine until the computer boots up again.
It repeats the process of detecting new hardware (which
is for the floppy) and installs another floppy controller
device and no floppy until I uninstall it again. I have
done what all the Knowledge Base says, but no help. It
is a pain to do this every time you boot up the computer.
Any suggestions.

I have installed XP pro on several machines with no
problem.
