when you reselect system restore it creates a new restore point.

To disable System restore, right click on your My Computer icon and
select Properties. Go to the System Restore tab and place a check in
the line that reads "Turn off System Restore on all drives." Once that
is done, follow the rest of the steps to remove bugbear from your
system. Once complete you can turn System Restore back on following
the same procedures that you used to turn it off, this time removing
the check from "Turn off System Restore on all drives."

Note that all previous restore points will be lost in this operation,
but new ones will be created once you have turned System Restore back
on.
