Hi there

I'm new to this forum and wondered if anyone can help me
out. I recently logged on to the family PC to find that
all of the system tools had disappeard. As a result I
cannot defrag, scandisk, create system restore points or
several other things.

I've checked the full pathway of the folders
at "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start
Menu\Programs\Accessories" and all four folders are
empty. Under properties it says that System Tools was
last modified on 24/07/03. I've checked this with the
logs in my Norton Internet Security Firewall under
Intrusion attempts but this hasn't yielded any
information.

Does anyone know of a way to reinstall System Tools
without a complete system restore to factory settings.
I've got lots of data I can't afford to lose, and don't
have access to system restore itself to use the last
saved restore point.

Also, does anyone have any idea how this might have
happend. Nobody in my house has been anywhere near System
Tools.

If you could help I would very, very much appreciate it.

Kind regards

Nick Welch

You're describing the location of the shortcuts, not the tools
themselves. Try
RUN
restore
then click on rstrui.exe

Or go to c:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

Not a clue. Do you have your folder options configured so you can see
hidden files and folder? The first thing that comes to mind is that
they might have been rendered invisible since we seem to be seeing a
number of posts of missing Favorites folders that are actually where
they belong.
