win xp sp1

after installing a critical update, my system keeps asking
me for disk with sp1 on it as "files needed have been
overwritten by an unknown version". I can find no way to
uninstall then reinstall sp1. sp1 is no longer available
from microsoft. sp1a will not install, and is asking for
signature verification

you can try to point it to your c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386
