Windows updates

[Bandit \(Texas\)]

I keep trying to do the updates on my windows, I keep
having quite a few that will not go in, I was wondering
if anybody knows wht, or anything about these
supposed "critical" updates" that will not download. They
are:
security update Feb 14 2002
811493 security update (WinXP)

Q817287 Critical update (catalogue database corruption in
XP)

Q815021 XP: Security update

331953 Security update (WinXP)

811630 Critical update (WinXP)

Q323255 Security update (WinXP)

814078 Security update (Microsoft Jscript version 5.6 Win
2000 Win XP)

Q329115

329170

I need to find out what these are, and If I need them,
and if not, how to remove them permanantly from coming up
when I do my updates. If I truly need them, how do I get
them to go through, when it tells me they have not passed
through Microsoft.

The usual cause of this problem is a corrupt 'catroot2' file. The update
817287 will correct the problem of what is causing the corruption. To Fix:
Go to C:/windows/system32 and find the file 'catroot2' and rename it to
anything such as 'catroot4'. Reboot, download and install the updates. A new
'catroot2' file will be generated.
I think it best to download and install all the updates even if you only do
one at a time.
