You just might have that damned blaster worm. I had the
same problem a few days ago. But I downloaded all the
patches and worm-killing software and found that I wasn't
infected. But just to be sure, download any patches and
anti-blasterworm software you can find.
If you want to end that stupid RPC pop-up, right-click on
My Computer, click "Manage", go to "Services &
Applications", click "Services", find the Remote Procedure
Call service, go to its properties, and under
the "Recovery" tab, specify want you want the unit to do
when that service fails. (When you first get there, it
will be set to automatically restart your unit, that's
your problem right there)
But you should only use this tip AFTER you have made sure
that you don't have the worm.
