i have recently purchased 2 160gb sata drives. i want to
set them up in raid 0 ....would this make the drive one big
320gb? i also would like to boot from this drive..my
windows xp disk has service pack one incorporated..will
the windows installation recognize the size of the drive
when i attempt to format it..or will it only recognize up
to 137gb

Several questions in one there.
Yes a RAID 0 array will result in a virtual 320Gb drive.
For more info on how to enable your system to see the full drive check
through this link

Since you have a XP CD with SP1 incorporated, assuming your mainboard is
fine with the large drive, you shouldn't have a problem installing onto a
large drive.
As for booting from the SATA RAID array, that will depend entirely on how
the manufacturer of your mainboard has enabled SATA. If you're using a
system SATA RAID connection look through your mainboard manual for SATA/
SATA RAID settings in the BIOS, there is usually a section on RAID either in
the mainboard manual or available separately from the mainboard
manufacturer's website
Hope that helps
