I was looking for my C:/Windows/system32 folder and much to my surprise
there was a Windows folder with a sub folder called System but it was empty.
That entire Windows folder was empty.
However I did find a folder called Windows.000 that had all the appropriate
windows and other program folders in it, including the System32 folder. It
also had 25 folders called $NtUninstallQ######$.
Can someone tell me what happened to cause this and can i change the name of
the Windows.000 folder to Windows and can i delete the #NtUninstall######
foldeers?
Thanks.
Tom

Hi Tom,
Why did it happen? You reinstalled WindowsXP and did not change the =
default installation folder back to C:\Windows at the beginning.
Can you change it back? No, you can't. Changing it back would involve =
reinstalling again (not just Windows, but your applications as well).
What are those files? They are the uninstall information for various =
hotfixes (Windows Updates) that you have installed. If you have no =
intention of uninstalling a hotfix, then you can delete the uninstall =
folder. Afterwards, go to Add & Remove in the Control Panel and select =
that hotfix for removal. You will get an error message and an option to =
remove the listing as well.
Hope this covers it.

Hi Tom,
The default install directory is C:\Windows - unless the installer =
detects that that folder already exists, then it defaults to =
C:\Windows.000. This is why you have what you have.
