I don't use messenger and I get a pop up conversation
every time I start up. This is software I don't want but
I can't get rid of it. How do I get rid of the popup
and/or get rid of messenger altogether?

system.

SOLUTION:
Open the Messenger then click the Tools -->then click Options-->then Click
Preferences-->Then uncheck the option "Run windows messenger when windows
starts"
