screen saver

I have tried to get the screensaver to work but it wont.
I have gone to control panal chosen several different
screen savers. Set them to go off in 10 minutes. I then
click the preview button and it works perfectly. I let
the computer set and no screen saver.

What am I doing wrong?

Does the computer go into any powersaving modes or switch off hardware
before the screensaver kicks in (eg. hard disk power down). If so, this may
register as activity on the computer and reset the screensaver timeout. In
the past I have also found a faulty mouse to be a problem also with a cursor
that starts moving.
