I have an Alienware Dragon computer with XP Professional.
It was working after removing MSblast
We downloaded some patches and installed Macafee Online
virus protection.
Some desktop icons dissapeared. The modem quit working.
The driver shows in device manager and diagnose modem tab
shows it as working but you can't create a new connection
(it only shows broadband as a choice) using new connection
wizard or change modem in MSN Exploreer (it says no modem
detected)?.

I would not have Macaffee software in the same building as my PC.

I've seen the missing connection problem after a 'repair' of WinXP Pro...the
fix being the reinstallation of SP1 and it miraculously reappears. Off hand
I can't find the MSKB article about this problem. The other difficulties, I
don't know...personally I've never used Macafee.

Ed;
Personally you never want to use Mcafee products.
