I purchased a new computer with xp home installed. I
want to install my copy of xp PRO BUT THE computer keeps
indicating that a copy of xp is already running. How can
I replace the home edition for pro I don't have the cd
for home edition as it came installed, but I have the xp
pro cd.

It sounds like you got an oem version of XP which will only do a clean
install. To do an upgrade, you'd need an upgrade or full retail version.
