ATI all in wonder

First uninstall ATI drivers and set the video mode to
standard VGA mode. Reboot. When you come up and XP
finds your ATI cancel the hardware/driver install. Run
the updated ATI driver software for XP.

Be sure to install the driver and capture software exactly like ATI states
in their web site. If you vary their procedure at all, boot when they say
don't or don't boot when they say to, the installation will fail.

Owner of 3 different ATI AIW products, 2 currently in use so I know from
trial and error.

This is good advice. Do exactly what the ATI site says, and everything
should be OK. I am using the ATI AIW, and happy with it.

This is what I do when I install new ATI Radeon 7500 AIW drivers and
software from ATI:
First, I download all ATI drivers, putting each driver in a separate folder
created, with a name beginning with a number designating the order each
particular driver must be installed in, and ending with directions on
whether to reboot or not.
EX: For ATI Radeon 7500 AIW Catalyst 3.6
(NOTE that this is ONLY for the ATI Radeon 7500 AIW Catalyst 3.6. The order
may be different for your card)
C:\ATI Downloads\01-Display Driver--Reboot
C:\ATI Downloads\02-Control Panel--Reboot
C:\ATI Downloads\03-Capture Driver--Reboot
C:\ATI Downloads\04-DAOMDAC--Dont Reboot
C:\ATI Downloads\05-MMC 8.5--Reboot

Then, I follow the following procedure:
1) Use Add/Remove Programs to remove all ATI entries.
2) Reboot, and allow Windows XP to detect the card and install its default
ATI driver. (I do not even attempt to install the SVGA driver, as ATI's
driver readme directs you to do. XP will just keep reinstalling its default
ATI driver at this stage following the required reboot anyway.)
3) Then, beginning with the first folder, I open it and install each new ATI
driver in the order given on ATI's website, as reflected in the download
folders, rebooting (or not rebooting) as directed, one after the other.

Never a problem yet.
