Faster cleaner installs, what a joke!
I've been trying to upgrade from Win98SE to WinXP Home
edition, brand-new disk from store, with no avail, first
tried upgrade installation and everything went fine all
the way to a black screen with a windows logo moving
around then a blue screen"windows has shut down because it
detected a virus on your hdd." I could'nt reboot back to
my previous os so I had to start with a clean install,
first with my original win98, then with my Win98SE/upgrade.
Second, I tried the "clean install" from the xp upgrade
disk with the same results as the first. Once again, in
order to get comp. running, clean install from win98, then
win98Se/upgrade.
Hardware issue?
I'm running a AX4C max AOpen motherboard, with a 2.4
800mhz fsb P4 processor with 512mb DDR400 mem.,120gb hdd.
I'm getting tired of reinstalling my original os's just to
keep this system running. If I'd known that it would be
this much trouble, I'd stuck with my 133mhz compaq deskpro
with win95!!
I guess the next step is pay someone megabucks to install
a hundred dollar upgrade.
Thanks for your comments.
Randy.
