Hi Please can someone help me.
I am finding my internet connection keeps freezing. I was
informed that it is because windows is running programs
in the background. Can anyone tell me how I can check if
this is happening and if so how can I stop this happening.
I am but a halfwit and still prefer using a sliderule and
abacus.... I need help with this techy stuff.
Thanks

Hi, Terry.
I don't know why your internet connection is "freezing". (Please define
"freezing".) But WinXP (and every Windows version) always is running things
in the background. That's the major feature of Windows - multitasking,
doing several things at once.
Of course, SOME programs that may be running in the background COULD
interfere with Internet Explorer or whatever Internet browser you are using.
About the only ones that might interfere with browsing are such protective
programs as firewalls and virus checkers. For us to have any chance to help
you, we will need to know what programs you have on your computer. Also, it
might help to tell us about your computer hardware, especially if it is old
and slow. :^{
