Thinking about buying a new machine and having it run on

My question will the following work ?
Office 97
A Hewlett-Packard Deskjet 720c
A Umax Astra 1220s SCSI scanner ?

All should work, but you may have to update your scanner driver.

Check scanner and printer sites for updated drivers.

That's useless advice because none exist. XP will have a basic driver for
the printer, I don't know about the scanner because I've never had that
problem - mine is sufficiently new enough to still be supported.

The scanner will work with XPs default drivers, or UMAX had drivers on one
of their European sites that would work. But...if yours is as old as mine
was, the problem is going to be the scsi card. Mine was ISA, which you won't
find in a new computer. So, you'd have to buy a new scsi card.
Unless you have a need to run other scsi devices, it's going to be a lot
cheaper and easier to buy a nice, new usb scanner.

Thats a useless response because one does not know if an updated driver is
available or not until he /she tries to find one.
