After upgrading from Windows 98 to Windows XP (Home)
I have found that I lose files that were previously
MSWord and similar also now am unable to process
information in Table format as the new system converts a
document to word pad and Rich Text. When the previous
doc is accessed and alterations are made within the table
Both text or figures on saving the file a check comes up
re save to rich text file closes and all information
within the tables is lost. on reopening the file the
table reappears however taxt or figures cannot be re-
entered.

Should I have opted for XP Office or XP Pro for better
conversion of Data? Or am I using the system incorrectly?

By changing your operating system (Windows), it shouldn't have affected MS
Word unless you went for a clean install (not a bad idea) where you
re-formatted your HDD or otherwise removed MS Office or MS Works/Word.

If you did that, you'll have to re-install Office or Works as they're
separate from Windows.
