Logging off

I can not log off when trying to shut down via the start
button. I click log off, and computer hangs. If I Press
ctrl+shift+Esc I can then log off, then close. How do I
adapt so I can close in the proper way?.

if you are having any problems with xp first I would make sure you have all
the updates you need. I have seen many computers that without updates
installed don't function properly.
