View Full Version : pop up or not!!

I downloaded Kazaa media and Morpheus yesterday (big
mistake I hear you cry) - neither of these ran
satisfactorily (I didn't like the hassle with pop up
adverts etc..) So I uninstalled both but I now have a pop
up?! from Adblaster.info intruding all the time offering
me free download for bonzibuddy. It will pop on the
screen and then reduce in size to fade away. How do I get
rid of this? I had a similar problem recently and I was
advised to use something to detect spyware. I downloaded
ad-aware 6.0 which got rid of this annoying pop up. But I
have a done a scan since this recent problem and located
adblaster on the quarantined items list and removed this
or so I thought. It is still popping on and off the
screen - can I get rid of this intrusion? It's the last
time I download anything with aggressive advertising.
Please help! Christine

Harry thank you for your reply this didn't work - I
posted again later today with this.....
I think this is the file extension of this pop up? which
appears on my list of visited internet sites (internet
shortcut), even though I don't visit. I don't know if
it is relevant file:///C:/WINDOWS/system32/ppu1_1.cfg
can anyone help?

Another useful thing to do is to set your cookie policy:
1. Open internet explorer
2. Tools - Options
3. Go to the Privacy Tab
4. Click on Advanced
5. Check "Override automatic cookie handling"
6. Select the Accept First Party Cookies and Block 3rd party cookies.
This blocks 3rd party cookies which advertisers use but are useless to you.

First, you need Adaware you can get it here at www.lavasoftusa.com Second if
you still want to download music you can get this program called Kazaalite
it is the exact same thing like Kazaa but it doesn't have any spyware at
all. It comes bundles with that famous hack that skyrockets your
participation level which increases your downloads. It connects to the same
network as kazaa does, which doesn't affect the amount of songs results you
get. Please note: Kazaa Media Desktop Doesn't Want you to use it and the
RIAA wants to sue all of us individually (What Idiots)
