the dialup connection window keeps popping up when I'm
not on the net, this is really annoying, can anyone tell
me how to stop it popping up automatically, this
basically happens anytime the computer is turned on and
not on-line

Hi,

In Internet Explorer, click on tools >> folder options and flip to the connections tab. Select the
dial-up connection in question and select 'Never Dial a connection'.

What a silly answer!!!
How is the poor person ever going to get online next time they want to?
The correct answer lies in the fact that something is wanting (or needing?)
a connection.
Could be anything from ad-ware trying to update it's ad. eg, free game or
Cute FTP.
Might be your windows OS checking for updates. Might be your Anti-virus prog
trying to do an update. Might be one of those sex-dialers trying to rip you
off.
In other words you need to firstly get yourself "adaware" program or similar
to get rid of any of those types of programs. Then turn off "scheduled
tasks", MS updates, Anti-virus updates etc etc. Do 1 at a time until you
pin-point the culprit.
It really is "hide-&-seek".

Hi,

It is not a silly answer. The procedure outlined by me does not affect the dial-up connection in any
way such as that it would be rendered useless. Next time when the OP will want to use the dial-up
connection, he would have to do so manually by double clicking on the dial-up icon.
