volume problems

i was cleaning up my computer and must have somehow
removed the volume control. i can only get to a certain
low volume with the programs i have and cannot find a way
to get the volume control returned. i went
into "add/remove programs" to see if i can find anything
that would help me know where to go .. but alas, i can
find nothing.
any tips on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.
i'm not the most literate person when it comes to dealing
with computers ..

and hit enter.
