Connect the device to the PC, go to the Control Panel and click on Game
Controllers..... use the AutoDetect feature. XP has the drivers built in.

you may not believe this but i rang M$ about my precision
2 joystick with a similar problem. "get a cold glass or
water and dip the USB socket into the water up to the
holes so to fill the innards with water" is what i was
told. This de-statics the device which "is a inherent
problem with all M$ game controllers". Be careful not to
rub it dry as this may re-static the device. Give it a
good shake and dont worry about drops of water. Mine
didnt blow up. Works fine but requires this method
repeating every now and again. Unfortunatly when the
problem starts its a pain forever.
