As stated previously, you can back up your whole OE store. You can check
where it is by going into Tools>Options>Maintenance tab and clicking the
store folder button.

This will also backup all your downloaded newsnet posts, which is a bit
pointless, so reset all the folders.

Alternatively you could look at some sort of backup software.

This is how I collect my news messages on CD:

With the message to be copied in the preview pane (content box):
Click [File] on the menu bar > [Save As...] in the drop-down menu
In [Save Message As] window, assigned to [My Document]
Edit file name at the bottom if desired > [Save]

Viewing my collection:
Click [Start] in Desktop > [My Documents]
Click [View] on menu bar > [Details] > [Arrange Icons by] > [Type]

Copying to CD (actually to a temporary storage area, hidden from view):
Select (highlight) message files to be copied > [Copy this folder] (Lt.
pane)
In [Copy Items] dialog box, select [CD-RW Drive] > [Copy]

Insert CD in the drive > [Do Nothing] ( leave CD there) > [OK]

Writing to CD:
Click quickly the bubble (appears *momentarily*) telling me of files
ready
In [CD Drive] window, click [Write these files to CD] (top of Lt. pane)
Follow instructions in [CD Writing Wizard] that pops up. Job done.

After some experimentation of your own, you will no doubt come to your own
style and technique. You will discover too how to save on the same CD
incremental news files, how to write to CD when the bubble disappears only
because you are too slow to click it, how to delete the file(s) in the
temporary storage area when writing to CD fails and you have to start all
over, and, perhaps, how to save messages in a folder other than My
Documents.
