Greetings --
Boot the PC using a different OS that allows you access to the
hard drive's file system, and then rename the folder. Windows will no
longer run, but you'll have accomplished your goal.

I too would like to rename the folder BECAUSE the system was upgraded form a time when I had named the folder other than "windows" and now want it to have the "correct" name (and still have a usable system).
