Pioneer DVD-R106 DVD +/- R will not burn

hi all

the problem that i'm having with my Pioneer DVD-R106 DVD
+/- R
is that it will not burn a cd-r or a dvd-r at all. the
drive is set to the master ide cable and the softwear
that i'm using is nero 6.0.0.9. and my os is win xp. when
i do a simulation, eveything goes well. but when i try to
burn, all i get is a "write error"

please help, i'm dying to burn a dvd.

I would upgrade Nero to 6.0.0.11
before u use it again. 6.0.0.9
has a serious bug/fault in it, to do with
encoding or something. And WILL
format your hard drive!

I have exactly the same issue and it doesn't be related
to Nero but more the fact that Windows installs this
drive as a standard dvd/cd-rom drive and not a recordable
device. Does anyone know how to rectify this?
