I'm so glad that I haven't had a single shutdown problem with my new XP
computer in the four (!) weeks that I've owned it.. My previous system,
running W98SE, which does now finally shut down properly, gave me many such
problems. But I've already bookmarked this page in case my new system
starts giving me headaches:

I had a similar problem which turned out to be a problem
with Norton Antivirus 2003! Removing NAV2003 allowed
shutdown to procede. I haven't reloaded NAV2003 to
confirm that it was the only cause though.
