View Full Version : Start Menu Right Click Problem

Lately, I've discovered a problem with Win XP Home's Start Menu after
drag-n-dropping items from one part of the Start Menu to another. These
items will show up in the StartMenu, BUT if I right-click the folder they
are moved into they do not show in resulting window as being in that folder.
ONLY
the items that were there prior to my dragging-n-dropping new items to it
show. How can I get the newly dropped items to show when I right-click a
folder in Start Menu and select Open? This is the case regardless of whether
I am using WinXP view or Classic View of the Start menu. Any ideas?

TIA,
CarolH

right click the start menu, you have a choice of explore and explore all
users. Some of the shortcuts in your all programs are in the all users and
some are personal to you. If they are not in one then they are in the other

Roy, it does appear that you're right. Except in neither one can I get all 5
folders to show. If I select Open (or Explore) I get 2 of the entries; If I
select Open All Users (or Explore All Users) I get the other 3 entries in
the folder. Surely there is someway to get all 5 to show.

I am the only one that uses this computer. However, I do have an identity
for myself (not quite sure how I did that when I set WinXP up but I did.
Under "\Documents and Settings I seem to have more than I need. There are
sub-folders for \Administrator, \All Users , \Me, \Default User,
\LocalService, Network Service and \Art (I created that one myself and just
haven't moved it to a better location yet). Do I really need *ALL* those? Is
there Any way to combine them so that everything is accessible, since I AM
the only one that uses this computer.

TIA,
CarolH
