I am having problems with my 'A' Drive .
I am unable to access floppies and XP tells me that the
disk is not formatted when I know it is .
Also coming up with the following error -
'A':\ is not accessible. The disk media is nor
recognized. It may not be formatted.
I have tried formatting but it comes up with -Windows was
unable to complete the format.
What is wrong and how can I fix it ????

Check your bios to make absolutely sure that the floppy drive shows up
defined as a 1.44 Meg ..... If you have seek on startup then check that
option too! You can remove seek option later......
Do normal boot and if you have seek/startup enable the system should
"full stroke" the drive during startup....
By the way.... Does the drive LED light up at all during attempted access.??
You might just have a bad floppy disk drive.....
Hope this helps

Thanks for replying
I've checked the BIOS - all OK .
Yes the LED lights - power on and disk tries to access.
Only a recent problem -within last 2-3 days??
Any other suggestions ?
