Freezing UP

Compaq Presario 1.4 ghz processor, 524 mg Ram. DVD, and
RW CD rom daisy chaned to IDE 1, Hard drive on IDE 0 and
Floppy on its own. Computer consistently freezes up with
an error code of 9>>IDE failure to respond. I have the
DVD jumpered to master and the CD to slave. What is wrong
with this config, or how can I stop this from freezing up?

You will want to contact Compaq for suuport. This sounds like a hardware
issue and not software.
