The Blast worm virus should have nothing to do with the
problem. Check if the drive shows in administrative tools
computer management disk managment. Check the bios. Change
the settings for recognising drives to auto in case you
still have this setting for a drive prior to the DVD
installation. Try booting in safe mode and checking device
manager for the drive. There may be old devices not
properly removed that conflict and cause it not to show
up. Check the power and data cables to the drive and
motherboard for a loose connection.
