View Full Version : Msgr "freezes" for several seconds when entering text

Lately, my Messenger freezes for 3-5 seconds each time I
hit 'enter' after entering text, whereas it used to be
instantaneous. Also, during the freeze my cursor/pointer
disappears if I wave it on top of the Messenger screen.
I have already uninstalled any user-created display
pictures and backgrounds (which were downloaded from the
MSN Messenger site), and I have tried uninstalling and
reinstalling Msgr (I now have 6.2), virus software is up
to date, and I checked for spyware. No results. Any
suggestions?

Greetings Gabrielle,
How long as his been occurring? Although there have been several issues in the past which
have caused this problem, none of them should be an issue anymore (and especially with 6.2).
As a quick fix, assuming it hasn't been too long ago, you may simply want to use System
Restore to restore your computer back to a previous time before this problem existed. To do
so, click Start, then Help & Support, then "Undo changes to my computer using System Restore"
and then select a previous date before the problem occurred.
After the restore is complete and you've validated that the problem no longer exists, please
remember to install the latest Windows Updates (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com). If the
problem comes back after the updates, please let us know.

I have tried what you mentionned and am still getting this same problem.
I had first believe it to be key-tracking software, but have scanned
with various software and checked for erroneous keys throughout my
registry and have come up with nothing. I am running version 6.2
recently upgraded from 4.7 (I think) that came packaged with my OS. Is
there anything else I can do to solve this problem???
Thanks,
Crynos
