View Full Version : XP thinks my modem doesn't exist

If I go to the device manager, my modem is there (Zoom) and if I run the
diagnostics (Control Panel, modem, properties, diagnostics, query modem) it
does a few little gymnastics and eventually gives the results of all of the
AT commands. If I try to make a new connection, using a modem isn't an
option (is grayed out). If I try to make a new connection using MSN (login
screen option) and I choose to set up my "new connection" manually the modem
option is grayed out. If I try to change my connection settings, somewhere
along the line it says that there isn't modem connected to my computer --
even though WindowsXP knows its there.

This all happen after a repair install of XP. An hour earlier the modem
worked so it is some type of Windows/setup/conflict ... something.

Can any of you guide me out of this mess?

Thanks!
