View Full Version : Outlook Express is eating my bank statement

Something in Outlook Express (that I did not turn on) has
taken it upon itself to censor my e-mail. It will not
let the attachment with my bank statement into my
computer. It very proudly announces, "OE removed access
to the following unsafe attachment: 2345xxx5678"
Unfortunately, the attachment is my bank statement. How
doI turn off the censor? Any suggestions?

MS, tired of hearing complaints that its software was inherently full
of security holes, has gone to the draconian measure that any file
that has a chance of being malignant may not be run with OE. I suspect
you updated the software and this feature was incorporated into it. If
you can't be bothered to look for a white paper at microsoft.com (and
looking up white papers there is an adventure unto itself), you might
try and dig around in Tools/ Properties and see if y9ou can turn it
off there.

Tools/options/security...4th check box, uncheck...be sure
you have a good anti-virus and you're careful about what
attachments you open. BTW, your previous attachments are
not gone, just double click to re-download the message and
you should get the attachment.
