New computer, windows XP

When I try to put computer on standby I get the following message:

The device driver for the "BCM V.92 56k Modem" device is preventing the
machine from entering standby. Please close all applications and try again.
If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver.

This is a new computer. Should I already by needing to update a driver and
if so how do I go about that? Thanks to any who could advise me.

If it is a new computer, contact your vendor for support, there maybe support
documents on their web site.

Look in the Phone and Modem options in the Control Panel, under the modem tab, Power
Management.

There is a driver here with a November, 2003 timestamp
