One thing you can try offline is to go into IE. Tools \ internet
options \ connection \ settings \ advanced. Check the two settings,
whether disconnect when idle is unreasonably low (mine is for 15
minutes) and also whether you have the box checked to disconnect when
the connection is no longer needed, which may mean something different
to the computer than it does to you.
If those aspects are okay, you could try to see if Restore is working.
Go to start \ program files \ accessories \ system tools and click on
system restore. Choose a point from before this began. If may not
work, or may not solve the problem of a quick disconnect, but it's
worth a shot. The objective is to give you internet time to solve your
problem.
Incidentally, have you checked with your ISP or tried a different
computer?
