My taskbar is acting stupid, it forgets what it looked
like before and restarts with a default look with the
quick launch toolbar (explorer, show desktop, and
outlook) and search toolbars. This is terribly annoying
and just recently has been happening... Help anyone? By
the way, I running on XP professional. Thanks

Delete these keys or values from the registry. This will reset many =
things like saved folder settings.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer and =
delete the value
Shellstate

Thanks David for your response. Unfortunately, my
taskbar still resets itself on each reboot. Any other
suggestions? I wonder why this happened all of a sudden
within the past week.

Data type Range Default value=20

Description
Prevents users from saving certain changes to the=20

such as the positions of open windows and the size and=20

This entry stores the setting of the Don't save settings=20

you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group=20

David,
I tried your most recent suggestion with no luck. when I
restarted my computer, I saw the search assistant toolbar
(which I clicked off) and my quick launch toolbar undid
all my readjustments. I really am open to any other
suggestions you have.
Thanks

search assistant toolbar is probably resetting the configuration (as =
I've seen a few NG and Experts-Exchange posts). Running HijackThis and =
removing this bar might help!
